Ezell was born July 16, 1932 in Havana, Ill. to Lewis and Emma(Hoelscher) Lane. After the passing of his father, the family moved to Norborne, and made their home with Emma’s brother, Henry Hoelscher. Ezell attended Trinity Lutheran School Grade School, graduated from Norborne High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950. He served on the USS Philippine Sea during the Korean War.
Ezell spent most of his working years serving the local farming community as co-owner and later owner of Davis-Lane Oil Co. He enjoyed his community and found great purpose and fulfillment in helping family and friends. We remember fondly his role as Master of Ceremonies for the Norborne Soybean Festival Ha Ha Shows.
Ezell is survived by his wife, Lucille of the home; Jeff and Beth Carter (daughter) of St. Louis, and their children, Ross and Amanda Carter of San Antonio, Texas, Anne, Ruth and Bruce of the home; Scott (son) and Candy Lane and their children, Tyler and Erin Osterhouse, Gavin and Ava, all of Dallas, Texas; David and Gaye Carpenter (daughter) and their children, Daniel, Mark and Michael of Hardin; David and Jill Metz ( daughter) and their children, Emma, Audra, Reed and Scott of Springfield; Max Lane (son) and children, Alexis and Hunter of Newburyport, Miss. Other survivors include, Bob (brother) and Barbara Lane of Blue Springs, Rose Barker (sister) of Norborne, Vi Heil ( sister-in-law) of Richmond, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ezell was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran vrv air conditioning system Church, Norborne, where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Goppert Center in Norborne, Oct. 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The vrv air conditioning system family suggests memorials to be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion and Auxiliary #551 of Norborne, Mo. 64668 or to the North Care Hospice House, 2900 Clay Edwards Dr. North Kansas City, Mo. 64116.
